The Quest to Universe in Search of Genuine set ups

The origin of the universe has been the question of Cosmologists ever since the discovery that our universe is expanding. Out of all the variety of theories proposed, there seem to be quite an equal share of followers between the Big Bang believers and the Infinite Universe loyalists. None of those theories have been proven and found complete exact evidence. The consensus was to find measurements that can distinguish between the scenarios, with particle accelerators as the main popular device used at laboratories and institutions worldwide. Particle accelerators produce beams of charges particles comprised of protons or electrons and subatomic particles, to collide at certain energy level. The collisions are recorded and observed by a particle detector, and the data will be run through and interpreted by teams of scientists. At present, there are more than 30,000 accelerators in operation around the world. The Large Hadron Collider at CERN Switzerland, Fermi Laboratories in Chicago, SLAC Linac in California, Thomas Jefferson in Virginia, BEPC II in China and SuperKEK B in Japan, to name some of the big ones.

Things became questionable – and fell in the dark area of ethics – when some of these experiments are conducted in parallel with human behavioral modification experiments which are governed by the Quantum Cognition theory. Over the last several decades, quantum cognition has been considered a new theory that suggests mathematical principles of quantum mechanics can be applied to understand human behavior. It is based on the assumption that the wave nature of a certain state is the psychological experience of conflict, confusion and uncertainty. While the particle nature of a definite state is the psychological experience of conflict resolution, decision and certainty. This theory, with its principles, have been applied to the psychology fields and behavioral modification movement and experiments. Precise assessment is used to identify each human to correspond with a certain type of particle. Hence, most of us people have been categorized either as protons, anti-protons, electrons, positrons, neutrinos, photons, ions and so on. Or one can be several of the particles. A set up environment as well as a set of people (considered as particles to be observed) are required and thus being placed in a controlled environment. It can be anywhere from offices, restaurants and public places, to hotel rooms and even your own home. This is one of the main reason why some occult groups demand certain kind of rituals from its members. The set up extends to every aspect of lives, and in the last few decades becoming more and more formatted, restricted and controlled – trying hard to replicate cosmic scenarios of the early universe. Celebrities, mega stars, companies, business people, politicians, regular people, partnership and conflicts, economic and political fluctuations, coupling and decoupling (read: marriages and divorces), are all the set ups.

Billions and billions of dollars have been used to finance these set ups and experiments. Not to mention other type of significant natural resources and the concerns of the majority that high energy colliders are affecting the earth’s own magnetic field. Suspicions have arisen in the Scientific community, questioning the real purpose of some of the massive-scale particle colliding machines. It has been a common knowledge that the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland is the closest thing there is now, to a time travel machine. One major question is the theory that’s being tested only follow a subjective understanding of the early universe and how matters formed. In other words, the events took place billion of years ago were the opposite of the current atomic formation theory. Another concern is that due to the ease and convenience of creating artificial particles, also to ensure a high level of controlled environment, the amount of artificial particles used in the experiments nowadays are excessive in number compares to the genuine particles coming from the universe. The extra-constrained, extra-controlled, extra-modified behavior, set up and environment makes the particles know they are being observed, hence not behaving in a natural way that can bring valid results. Some may even be intelligent enough to learn over the years that the environments they are in are all just set ups and being modified and accelerated at an unnatural speedy rate that it defies the cosmic law. Moreover, some particle types are just not equal in nature to interact with each other, to what extend can they be collided and merged in repetitive violent experiments? How genuine are interpretations and results of quasi-particle staged experiments without having a clue of what the wave or the so-called “connection” with the universe is? The list of questions and concerns goes on, with leading Particle Physicists and Scientists worldwide already pledge to move the quest to high-precision measurement machines commencing prior to 2020. Taking into consideration the advantages vs disadvantages, ROI both monetary and the potential of how powerful the findings can be, for short, medium and long run, it may just be the best decision to take in this century.

 

Know when it’s over. Review: The Roses (2025)

A modern adaptation of Warren Adler’s 1981 novel and a remake of the 1989 film The War of the Roses, Jay Roach’s The Roses arrives with a ravishingly British script that somehow finds its footing in a Northern California setting. It is a bitter, elegant, and clever comedy of manners turned marital disaster – one that fulfills the sophisticated taste buds while reminding us that civility and savagery are often two sides of the same coin. At the centre are Theo and Ivy Rose (Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman), a couple whose whirlwind passion at the beginning eventually gives way to cracks beneath the facade. Ten years in, Theo’s signature ship-shaped museum collapses, his architectural dreams in ruins, while Ivy’s modest crab joint soars after a glowing five-star review. Suddenly, Ivy is the breadwinner and Theo is left a stay-at-home father to their twin children.

The film cleverly toys with gender role reversal: Ivy once shelved her ambitions to raise their children while Theo rose in his profession. Now, as she flourishes and he flounders, Theo’s jealousy festers against her lavish new lifestyle. The couple’s repression of feelings behind a business-as-usual veneer only heightens the collapse. Cumberbatch delivers brilliance in portraying Theo’s uptight bitterness, an architect turned reluctant home-builder of children; while Colman reigns as queen of the poker face, her quick-witted snaps and perfectly delivered retorts dripping with true British sarcasm. Tony McNamara’s script brims with barbed humor, mastering the art of insulting your spouse in the most polite and sophisticated manner. Even the handful of “cunt” references land as perfectly in context – sharp, fitting, and never gratuitous. One of the highlights comes in the dinner-party scene with their American friends, a showcase of cultural clash and caustic comedy. Yet the supporting cast often feels like set dressing, despite game performances from Andy Samberg and Kate McKinnon as swinging liberals, alongside Zoe Chao, Jamie Demetriou, Ncuti Gatwa, and Sunita Mani. Allison Janney’s brief appearance as an ice-queen lawyer makes a lasting impression.

The house Theo designed – an AI-powered modernist fortress – becomes a stage for the Roses’ unraveling. Their virtual assistant, named Hal, chillingly plays a role in the finale: a gas leak from the couple’s fight + Theo’s instruction to light the fire; then turn to a fade to white. The soundtrack’s “Happy Together” both starts and bookends the film with irony. Though not as brutally dark as its 1989 predecessor, The Roses still flirts with black comedy, pushing sourness to savagery.

So many points along the way could have offered the Roses a dignified exit, a chance to end things gracefully. Even their own children cheer at the idea of divorce. Yet pride, spite, and venomous one-upmanship prevail, proving that knowing when it’s really over is the most vital skill in any relationship. The film resonates beyond its narrative, setting a reminder that toxic relationships – whether personal, professional, or societal – will eventually sever every bond. No matter how many friends, networks, or six degrees of separation are placed in between, there will still be no connection if the foundation has rotted away. The healthiest choice, then, is not to cling endlessly but to have the decency to stop, detach, and recognise when it is truly over. Trying beyond that would just be a waste of time.

At the end of the day, The Roses is a sharp, sarcastic must-watch for those navigating sour marriages; or anyone who wants to see how the “C word” can be deployed with wit and precision.

Sci-Fi London: A Programme on Global Stories and Emerging Themes

The 2026 edition of SCI-FI-LONDON positions itself less as a spectacle-driven festival and more as a curated platform for emerging filmmakers and experimental storytelling. Taking place over five days in Shoreditch, the programme combines world premieres, UK premieres, and five structured short-film showcases, reflecting a deliberate emphasis on independent and first-time creators.

The festival opens with Signal One, a world premiere from Canadian writer-director Jonathan Sobol, featuring a cast that includes Isabelle Fuhrman, Josh Hutcherson, Dennis Quaid, and David Thewlis. The film centres on humanity’s attempt to engage with alien intelligence, raising questions about the limits of human understanding when confronted with forces beyond its control.

Across its five-day run, the programme brings together films exploring themes such as grief, survival, memory, obedience, and technological consequence. The selection spans multiple countries – including Canada, Mexico, Romania, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China – reflecting a broad international scope. A notable aspect of this year’s curation is its focus on debut features and independent filmmakers, with several directors presenting their first full-length works to an international audience. The programme continues with each anchoring in distinct but interconnected themes. ReLive introduces a time-travel premise centred on grief and moral conflict, as a mother is sent back in time to prevent a catastrophic invention. Beings (Seres) shifts focus to a resource-scarce world where technological dependency begins to erode human empathy. Other entries further expand the scope of the festival’s narrative direction. The Uncertainty Principle presents a confined, dialogue-driven exploration of scientific discovery and interpersonal conflict, while Yesterday Island introduces a more abstract storyline built around temporal distortion and isolation.

The programme also includes Chatlines, a UK-based film combining digital communication, terminal illness, and time displacement into a single narrative, and Shackled, a dystopian thriller structured around enforced cooperation between two incompatible individuals. One of the more conceptually distinct entries is The Journey to No End, which imagines a world where humanity has uploaded its consciousness into a digital environment, leaving physical reality largely abandoned. The festival closes with Voidance, a British production centred on a simulation-based training system where repeated resets begin to accumulate psychological consequences. Notably, the film features both female-led direction and performance, reinforcing the festival’s support for diverse creative perspectives.

Alongside the feature films, SCI-FI-LONDON 2026 introduces five curated short-film programmes, collectively showcasing 39 films from multiple continents. Each programme is structured around a specific thematic focus:

Intellectual Property & The Ownership of Your Brain

Intellectual property theft is the illicit act of appropriating the creative expressions, designs, inventions, proprietary information, and trade secrets, collectively referred to as Intellectual Property (IP), belonging rightfully and lawfully to an entity. Typically, IP theft occurs within the realm of the business world, encompassing competitive disputes and internal breaches of trust. It is important to explicitly define and specify ownership of intellectual property within employment contracts and terms and conditions. As employees’ tenure with a company lengthens, their responsibility and commitment grow, as well as their duly bound and what expected out of them intensifies. Loyalty may be rewarded, but at the same time can be manipulated and misused, as in the case of employees who are tempted by bribery and other inhouse or external factors. But acts of unethical actions in pursuit of advantage do work both ways and probable to be initiated by any parties involved in the supposedly trust-chain.

Some examples of IP theft
Two companies engaged in the production of electric vehicles are embroiled in a legal battle concerning pilfered IPs. The leading company has taken legal action against a manufacturer of electric SUVs, alleging the theft of its trade secrets. According to their claims, more than fifty former employees departed the leading company to join their rival, carrying valuable trade secrets with them. Conversely, the accused company asserts that this lawsuit is a ploy to tarnish its reputation. Regardless of the veracity of these allegations, the leading company has gained notoriety for its robust defence of its trade secrets and has filed lawsuit against the other self-driving companies. A prominent carbonated soft drink corporation has zealously guarded the secrecy of its formula for years. Although rumours have persisted about the formula potentially containing cocaine, some speculations veer toward insect ingredients as the reason behind the formula’s secrecy. In one incident, three employees managed to gain access to the closely guarded secret formula and approached a direct competitor with the intention of selling it. This case continues.

It is a well-established fact that organisations sometimes resort to actions that many would consider unethical in their quest for competitive advantages. An illustrative case from nearly a decade ago involves an individual architect who pioneered a technology called “Engineered Architecture,” facilitating the creation of cost-effective sustainable properties. This innovation caught the attention of a tech industry giant, leading to the signing of a non-disclosure agreement for a collaborative project. However, the tech giant discreetly attempted to sabotage and erase the project, opting instead to launch a spin-off version without the original creator. In response, the creator filed a complaint. In another instance, a plant manager at a food-processing company devised an innovative enhancement for the existing screening process. In recognition of his contribution, the company owner proposed a reward-sharing arrangement. Yet, prior to formalising the agreement, the manager secretly filed a patent under his own name. Upon discovering this, the company demanded the surrender of the patent, leading to a legal dispute that ultimately favoured the company. However, the initial patent obtained by the company proved very poorly drafted, deemed almost unusable. As the original creator, the plant manager possessed the original, superior and enhanced version, prompting him to pursue international patent ownership.

Intellectual Property Theft and Its Implications
Intellectual property (IP) theft has become pervasive across diverse sectors worldwide, exacting a significant toll on governments, businesses, and individuals, with losses tallying in the trillions annually. The spectrum of IP theft spans tangible items like counterfeit goods to intangible assets such as copyrights, data, processing mechanisms, technical formulas, algorithms, and cyber-attacks aimed at IP theft. Cybersecurity breaches alone have allegedly resulted in billions in losses for organisations. Clearly, safeguarding these invaluable assets must be a crucial concern for all parties including governments, corporations, and individuals alike, especially in the today’s digital economy. Proactive IP protection is a vital strategy to prevent victimisation by theft. This involves comprehensive measures such as: figure out what your IP is and where, identifying and monitoring who has access to them, and ensuring robust security measures to avoid exploitation, abuse or theft, particularly in an era of heightened competition and technological advancement. On a global scale, at the moment there is a global IP war between two of the most powerful and rich nations of the world, with trademark and patent infringement as the key part of mounting tensions as they compete to grow in next-generation technologies. There are also a handful of “suspected” countries – all of them categorised as considerably resourced-rich developing nations – that have been put on the “priority watch list” indicating that problems exist in that country with respect to IP theft, protection, enforcement, market access or human rights-related infringement. While one of the top three of these countries have subsequently become known as a global tech sub of resources, at the opposing end there is another one on the list that has in recent years been “stripped off” from their blooming technological ambition and capabilities due to political concern and link to some hostile countries.

Intellectual Property and the Brain
Your brain is the most important part of your existence. It is your central nervous system. The prevailing notion suggests that humans employ only around ten percent of their brain capacity, with the remaining ninety percent deemed inactive. Medical experts posit that most brain injuries often yield inconsequential consequences, primarily because the afflicted regions were originally dormant. However, ongoing research and advances in medical science may likely uncover further insights. In light of the rising field of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI), discussions and debates have arisen, emphasising the need to delve into the factors influencing human enhancement, especially in the realm of the brain. In summary, the neuro-political dimensions of Brain Science and its implications for human augmentation are poised to be incorporated into Intellectual Property Law in the near future. Currently, numerous global projects are exploring ways to facilitate a future where the human brain seamlessly integrates with technology through telepathic means. In much the same way that disputes may arise over ownership of related intellectual properties, equal significance must be attributed to establishing ownership and origins of the factors contributing to such enhancements. Technologies designed to augment the human brain possess the potential to greatly amplify our creative capabilities. Nevertheless, as we will contend, these technological augmentations also pose a threat to individual autonomy by potentially displacing innovation and ownership from the hands of the individuals. Certainly, claims of ownership that disregard the collaborative nature of innovation in favour of individual assertions of originality pose significant challenges. However, even more disconcerting is the prospect that when technologies redefine how humans communicate and transcend the boundaries of the human body, what was previously considered an individual’s creative or innovative work could be more easily appropriated by those who control these enhancement technologies. In a world where scientists can extract images from the human brain and manifest them as graphic representations of thoughts, the concept of originality becomes blurred, raising questions about authorship.

In contrast to the already-accepted mainstream technology of AI-generated music and art creation, cases involving original artists, painters, and musicians filing complaints and lawsuits are on the rise. They seek to protect the ownership of their creations. One AI tech startup, for instance, gathered and sliced one billion potential melodies from decades of copyrighted popular songs, generating a hundred million new tracks. While the initial intent whether to profit from it remains unconfirmed, following series of disclosures and complaints, these AI-generated tracks became freely accessible to subscribers for download. Similar issues permeate the arts and creative industries.

In the tech world, these original songs, paintings, artworks, theories, algorithms, all type of outputs – scientific, technical or artistry – are considered as “raw data.” No company, whether profit-driven or non-profit, can thrive without data. Since the inception of trade, data has been regarded as one of the most valuable assets, both tangible and intangible. Every facet of business, from resource planning to marketing, finance, customer service, sales, and operations, relies on data. Digitalisation has seamlessly integrated these assets into strategic directions and monetisation efforts. If you haven’t been stranded in the Sahara in the past ten years, you would’ve heard the term “data is the new oil”. And we know what the oil rush was like back in the 70s and 80s. Many online companies utilise subscriber-based data not only to enhance customer experiences but also to collaborate with third parties and solicited agencies. Most offer customers the option to either opt-in or opt-out of data sharing. Safeguarding subscription-based data is crucial. Moreover, data available in the public domain, which can be freely accessed through research and data collection tools, is unquestionably valued and monetised based on the entity’s processing power and engineering techniques and algorithms, as well as the resulting output’s quality, accuracy, consistency, and reliability. Therefore, attempts to gain unauthorised access to the results of and such processing and engineering itself constitute intellectual property theft. A collective effort by various law agencies, referred to as “The Great Brain Robbery,” seeks to raise public awareness regarding Intellectual Property Rights in the context of Web3 and encourages governments to protect creativity, innovation, and both artistic and scientific expression in the digital age.

Our conventional notions of creativity stem from concepts of consciousness that presuppose the mind as a distinct entity, separate from the mechanistic processes of metabolism and bodily functions. Even those who have discarded the idea of the soul in favour of locating the mind within the brain still rely on metaphors that owe their origins to dualistic views of the mind. Our legal systems for intellectual property are deeply entwined with these metaphors, shaping how we conceive of individuals and the creative labour we associate with individuality, and vice versa. In a fast-changing landscape, it might not only be individual inventors but also companies vying to assert proprietary rights over knowledge. This could potentially trigger a race to accumulate ideas, contingent on the emergence of novel property regimes to resolve disputes. We might witness the deployment of machine intelligence to pre-emptively generate all conceivable ideas, striving for legal protection before the merit of a specific idea is determined.

IP Theft and Third-Party Control of Your Brain: Possible?
Another unsettling scenario related to the brain and its properties involves the theft of intellectual property (IP) from the brain and unauthorised access and external control. In essence, external parties, utilising Brain-Computer Interfaces, covertly extract and harvest thoughts, memories, and even intercept cognitive connections. This resembles a type of phishing attack, involving malware, faulty or parasitic chip, or direct wavelength connections. The question arises: can brainwaves and neural signals indeed be intercepted? The answer is affirmative, as these signals can potentially be intercepted at various points along the neural signal transduction pathway, including within the brain itself (e.g., electroencephalography, electrocorticography, intracortical recordings), nerves (e.g., peripheral nerve recordings), and muscles (e.g., electromyography). With technological advancements, it is feasible to decode human motor and neuronal activity from these neural signals, as evidenced by experiments in various fields, including sports. For instance, a football player facing an opponent must decide whether to dribble, shoot, or pass the ball. Jaripeo Review: When Queerness Exists Without a Label

Screened at BFI Flare this week, the 70-minute Jaripeo offers a sort of toughness masked in private complexity. Set within Mexico’s traditional rodeo culture, the documentary doesn’t seek to challenge cultural behaviour outright, nor does it attempt to redefine it in obvious ways. It observes, patiently and without judgement, how one type of masculinity is lived, performed, and experienced from within. Co-directed by Efraín Mojica and Rebecca Zweig, the film balances a healthy amount of psycho-analytical flavour with honest observation. Mojica’s proximity to the subject matter brings raw authenticity, while Zweig’s female perspective allows the film to hold its ambiguity, non-tempestuously moving away from the urge to explain and define each scene or any characters. It is set in the Mexican state of Michoacán, where Jaripeo takes its name from the rural rodeos that act as annual gatherings – part celebration, part spectacle – bringing communities together through tradition and performance. At its core, Jaripeo traces a deeply personal journey – Mojica’s perspective – one that moves between community, subject matters, and self, without ever fully finding the need to separate them.

The documentary films in an experimental, almost dreamlike register that, rather than following a linear narrative, lets atmosphere and reflection speak. There’s always a tendency to see masculinity in rigid terms, defined by certain expected performance: strength, restraint, and emotional distance. Cinema has often reinforced this, particularly in stories where same-sex desire emerges within male-dominated worlds, usually leading to conflict, punishment, rupture, or quiet tragedy. The wise choice to film in Super 8 footage becomes more than an aesthetic choice. It offers a different way of seeing, one that captures the subtleties of gesture, proximity, and glances. The rodeo culture amplifies the toughness within a space defined by machismo, yet it can still reveal a coded language beneath the surface, proving that identity is layered – never singular. Super 8 works as a magnifying glass for all the secret coding going on beneath the surface between the men.

There is Noe, a macho and queer ranchero whose views almost represent the local like-minded men, and with whom Mojica maintains a close connection. Then there is Joseph, a gender-fluid, stylised diva who responds with a cheerful “bye” to a homophobic slur. And Pirinola, the resident drag queen who cheers up the crowd. Mojica’s approach towards the subject matters is by showing his own vulnerability, building trust, and letting each character open up. The documentary implies how group harmony is maintained over unnecessary conflict around differences at the deepest layer of personal experience. This also explains why some, like Noe and Pirinola, stay, while others break the pattern – one way being leaving the town, as Mojica does. The code is maintained, yet silence is also managed; everyone knows, but no one states – stability maintains.

Where films like Brokeback Mountain frame same-sex desire as something that ultimately breaks men apart, Jaripeo shows a world where it is accepted into the structure around them. It doesn’t announce itself, nor demand a resolution. It exists in gestures; in glances held a moment too long, in physical closeness that feels both natural and charged, in a shared understanding that rarely needs to be spoken aloud. There is a rhythm to this world in the spectacle of the masculine rodeo, which sits alongside moments that feel warmly intimate. And yet, nothing appears out of place. What might be read as contradiction elsewhere is simply part of the fabric in this environment. Within tightly bonded, male-dominated spaces, proximity and trust create conditions where desire can exist without needing to be explicitly defined. It is not a question of visibility versus secrecy, but of what is acknowledged and what is actioned upon.

This sense of restraint feels less like repression and more like negotiation. Boundaries exist – understood rather than enforced – shaping what can be expressed openly and what remains implied. The result is a form of coexistence that resists easy categorisation or labelling, particularly for audiences more familiar with Western narratives of identity, fixed rules, and disclosure. Rather than offering answers, Jaripeo speaks for itself. It suggests that masculinity, in certain contexts, is not as fixed or oppositional as it is often portrayed; that it can stretch, contain, and accommodate more than it openly admits. And in that space, something quietly revealing takes shape, and can be beautiful if one has the decency to see it in its most natural form.
